Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will have your faith shaken, for it is written.” Peter said to Him, “Even though all should have their faith shaken, mine will not be.” Then Jesus said to him, “Amen I say to you, this very night before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times.” But Peter replied, “Even though I should have to die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all spoke similar. Mark 14:27, 29-31 Being a follower of the living God is rewarding but not an easy task at times. Christians are to pave the way to make the world a better place.
Let me ask you this, as a Christian, on a scale of one to ten, where would you place yourself when it comes to doing God’s work and being a true follower? I congratulate you if you score a ten, God may call you to come to heaven anytime soon! For the majority, we all can do better in setting example to our families and communities. As a follower of Christ we must continue to strive to be more like Him everyday for this is the only hope in this troubled world. The world in which we live is a world of compromise in a bad sense which most of the time benefit what the world wants or what it wants to hear, not necessarily what truth is. How many times have you experienced questions or situations that are not favorable to your faith and Christian values? Sometimes this happens when you’re in front of people that could care less about believing in God. In most cases, these folks are the one that holds the key to the big opportunities, money, job, and advancement in the world in general; what would you do? Would you refrain from your Christian faith and forget your values and foundation for a moment just until you get that advancement and opportunities? It’s tough isn’t it? If we have enough people doing this, do you think our children and our community may follow…absolutely! Unfortunately it’s part of our culture in the world and it’s been with us for decades and centuries…When is it going to change and who will stand for what is right? Miss California, Carry Prejean, a true Christian, was a question away from becoming Miss USA. She was asked her view on gay marriage and answered, “No offense but as a Christian person, I believe that marriage should be between a man and a women.” Answering the question based upon her belief, true foundation, and faithfulness to God, she ended up losing the title and is now ridiculed for giving that answer, but she continues to stand behind her faith and her answer with support from millions of believers in the world and she truly serves as great example to the Christian community. Think about it, she could have easily changed her answer just so she can be crowned Miss USA that night. I truly believe that what she’s done, in the eyes of fellow Christians and most importantly in the eyes of God, will bring her much more future success. What would you do, would you change your answer and just go with the flow, so you can win the title to represent USA, the car, and all the privileges the pageant is offering? Our world badly needs to revisit its infrastructure and mindsets. What the world thinks is acceptable and just, in many cases are false. We’re in total chaos out here where we don’t even know if we should send our kids to school sometimes because they may get shot! Well, school is a place to get education, right? What happened, do we hate each other that much or are we just confused with no real role models to lead us to the right path? Does the devil have the upper hand in this world? Have you heard your parents during their time concerned about sending you to school because they are afraid that something bad might happen to you in school? …I don’t think so. Who’s in command out there in the world? Do you think it’s about time we start walking the talk, Christian people, and give way for what is truth that can only bring harmony in our confused and troubled society? We can no longer afford to just shy out about the word of God and our faith, the future of our children and the new generation is at stake if we continue the way it’s been; the word of God is needed now more than ever. What happened to Peter is the same exact thing that happens to most of us everyday. Peter told and guaranteed Jesus that He truly loves Him and that he is a true follower, but denied Jesus three times to save himself from prosecution. Let’s work together as Christian brothers and sisters to fulfill God’s work in all of us, which is to bring love, peace, hope, and joy to one another through the words of God. Stand for what is true, trust in God and His Holy Spirit will guide and give us the courage that’s needed to pave the way. God is love and “He is the way the truth and the life”, as it says in the book of John. Let us strive to follow His leading and examples to make the world a better place. May the Lord lead and guide you to stand for what is right according to His teaching this week, that it may grant you favors from our Lord God. |
