Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat (or drink), or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say, What are we to eat? Or What are we to drink? Or What are we to wear? All these things are the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for the day is its own evil. Matthew 6:25-34
My sister and her daughter from up north got tired of the cold and decided to pay a visit to us for the weekend. When she called me informing me that she's coming, I can really hear the excitement in her voice. Honestly, as much I love to see them, I thought right away that financially, work schedule, prayer meeting, my daughter's special Olympics event, etc, there's no way it will work with this kind of weekend schedule. But as usual God has His plan. Well, last Saturday, we were able to squeeze in a trip to Ft. Desoto Park with the family. The little change of pace enjoying the scenery and the sunshine that we tend to overlook most of the time due to busy schedule truly gave me more peace that I needed these past few days. God is so good that He does things sometimes when you're overflowing with anxiety and worry to bring you back down to where you need to be, to give you rest. My sister and her daughter's visit that came as a big surprise in many sense ended up to be what I really need to bring me back down to ground level, to smell the ocean, to appreciate the sunshine and nature, and to feel the love of a family member in that short time we're able to spend together. We fed the birds and watch them fly so freely (see attachment) which reminds me that we are in the same position if we don't focus on worry which does not add a single day in our life span. Whether we like it or not, for many, we've been spending way too much time focusing on our economic crisis lately. We are all affected by it in one form or another, and yes it's not easy but we must keep looking ahead, we will get there. We must realize that God is good to us and his promise of a good life and peace is at hand, but we must have faith truly believing in His promise. Work hard and do your very best everyday not forgetting that it's okay to take time away for yourself and family, even for a few hours. God has given us nature and our environment for us to enjoy, it's truly the cure for all burdens we face every single day, never under estimate his creation, all here for a good reason. He created it for us to live on and enjoy until man learned to focus its attention on world interest. May God continue to touch you with His love and protection this week. |
