Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you. Luke 6:37-38
No matter what we do, as human being, we will judge based upon the use of our senses, what we see, feel, hear, or smell. We come to a concrete conclusion after all information are processed, judging a person and situations immediately within seconds. That's how quick we can judge a person and situations every second and every minute everyday...we must be careful. I'm sure you heard of the phrase "Never judge a book by its cover", so very true. When we meet people for the first time, we will probably judge them on their appearance and how they carry their selves, right? The world says that first impression is everything...Is it really? Is there some flexibility in this statement? What if you meet somebody for the first time who just lost everything in a fire or disaster or even experienced fatalities of a loved one? What if someone lost his job or business with kids and family to feed and he's just having a really bad experience in life at the present moment? Are these exceptions to the first impression is everything statement? You may say yes, but how do you know if that's the real personality of an individual you just met? It's difficult isn't it? We must be careful and we must hold back, always ready as Christians to have the benefit of the doubt when we encounter someone who may come across different from the normal person we meet everyday. If we judge somebody based upon what we saw or hear just at that present moment, God may hold us accountable on how we judged someone who's possibly experiencing difficulties at that particular time due to unfavorable circumstances, think about it, that someone could even be you. All of us are given our own cross to carry, and some of the trials and situations may seem a bit tougher than others. We must be understanding and must be ready at all times to help, lend a hand and lend an ear. Many people need it most especially in this day in age, if you pay a close attention, these folks are around you. We Christians must lead showing the world and our communities by example what it's like to be "Christ like" to others. Giving of self, lending an ear and time to listen, financial assistance, or just simply being a good hearted person showing concern and giving cares. I'm sure all the above will brighten a day and will bring hope to someone. It can only happen when we can be Christ like in our actions and words. If we follow God's word and His commandments, many special things and better path to greatness will come our way, in His time of course. Let me repeat our scripture passage for the week once more, just what Jesus said in Luke...very important for all of us to read and act upon as we walk in His light. "Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." Remember, the more you do the more you get, it's true! May God be with you and bless you. May He give you protection and comfort in all your undertaking as you walk in His light this week. |
